Pillow Talk

A funny conversation occurred last night as Jonathan and Aaron were tucking themselves into their own beds (somehow Jonathan ended up in Aaron's bed as the night progressed). Here's the dialogue I overheard.

Jonathan: You know, Aaron, we are sheep and Jesus is our Shepherd.
Aaron: What?
Jonathan:
We are like sheep, and Jesus is like a shepherd who takes care of us.
Aaron:
No, Jesus is God, not a Shepherd.
Jonathan:
Yes He is, but the Bible says that Jesus is the Shepherd and we are His sheep.
Aaron:
Oh, OK.

I just thought that was a sweet chat between the two boys. I always love to hear the most precious name we know coming out of their mouths. Maybe we could learn a lesson from these 6- and 4-year old boys, and let the name of Jesus be a part of our normal, everyday conversations too! What better subject to talk about?

Thank You, God, for Jesus and for the little lessons learned from Your children.

Strong Fellas

Thanks to "Popeye" the boys love to eat spinach. They have also discovered that broccoli makes them just as strong. Here are the little dudes chowing down on the tiny green trees and showing off their humongous muscles.

Jonathan also ate his green veggies, but was a little too humble to flex his muscles. We know he just didn't want to make anyone jealous!

Silly Boys

Here are just a few random recent pics we took of the boys:

Caleb's new "recliner"

Fast-forward to Jonathan as a 100-year old man. It was the 100th day of school!
A pouting Aaron. Why? Big brother is being (irritating) big brother.

Breakin' the Tooth Fairy

Jonathan woke up again this morning to money under his pillow. Two days ago, he pulled his second tooth; but he forgot to put it under his pillow and the tooth fairy forgot to come. ( We think it's taking that fellow a while to get used to coming to visit our house.) Anyway everyone remembered last night, so Jonathan began this week a whole dollar richer!

New 'Do

Jeff finally got sick of standing in the bathroom under the hairdryer and straightening iron, burning up, and sweating. Here's the final result!

Snaggletooth

One of Jonathan's bottom teeth finally decided to turn loose of his gums. He's also about to lose one his top teeth. We didn't think they would ever let go, but now that he's almost 7 they're all falling out.

Jonathan was so excited last night. He was wiggling and pushing his bottom tooth with his tongue, totally grossing his dad and me out. Then the next moment he was holding his tooth in his hand, grinning from ear to ear! His tooth and wallet carefully placed under his pillow, he drifted off to sleep in hopes that the Tooth Fairy soon would leave him some treasure. He woke up this morning and glanced under his pillow to find a whole dollar. The value of teeth has skyrocketed since we were kids!

Reading Fair

The Reading Fair took place this week at Jonathan's school. After much hard work, he finally took his project to school. We read a wonderfully illustrated and well-written book, The Umbrella, for this project. It was fun coloring and decorating the board; but most of all, Jonathan learned some basic key elements of all literature, including characters, setting, plot, conflict, solution, tone/mood, and author's purpose. It seems like a lot for a first-grader to digest; but I guess if you expect a lot, they learn a lot. He has certainly surprised us by what he's capable of fitting into that noggin of his. We thought we'd share some pictures of Jonathan hard at work and of the completed project.

Straight A's Again

Congratulations to our Jonathan who brought home a perfect report card again. We are so proud of him for being so smart! Good thing he takes after me! :)

Fun With New Toys

After receiving too much stuff for Christmas, we took the boys out to try out some outside toys last Saturday afternoon. Aaron and Caleb wore their little legs out pedaling their new bikes. (Jonathan didn't want to take his because he thinks it's too big.) It won't be long before Aaron's ready to take his training wheels off! Yay, Aaron! Caleb still has a hard time keeping his bike going. Every now and then, he'll accidentally pedal it backwards, causing the bike to suddenly stop, which, in turn, causes him to get very very frustrated. And when he gets frustrated, everyone knows it!

As they rode all over the place, and as I followed closely after, Jeff and Jonathan piloted Jonathan's new remote control airplane (compliments of my sister, Dana). Jonathan's very proud of his plane that can fly "up to 300 feet," and was extremely upset when his dad flew it into a nearby neighborhood and nearly lost it. But, thankfully, the MIA plane was successfully recovered and returned.

After a few scrapes and bruises, both to the plane and to Caleb, we loaded up and headed home, already looking forward to our next outing.

Aunt Dana & Jordan's Visit

After Christmas, Aunt Dana and Jordan came home with us for a few days. Friday was a spectacular day outside, so we decided to take them to our favorite place, the Memphis Zoo. We caught lots of fun times on camera. Here they are!
